Renting something out, giving something away, or looking for something specific? You’ll follow almost the same steps for all three. We’ll point out the differences along the way.
Before you start: which listing do you need?
The kind of listing you create changes a few steps and fields, so it helps to know which one you need before you begin.
Rent out an item
Create a For Rent listing to rent out an item by the hour, day, week, or month.
In the app, tap For Rent under Classifieds. On KSL.com, choose For Rent from the Listing Type options.
Give away an item
Create a Free listing to give away an item with no payment, trade, or participation required.
In the app, tap For Sale under Classifieds. On KSL.com, leave For Sale selected, then choose FREE as the category and subcategory.
Free listing requirement: Free listings are for tangible items only. Services and requests do not qualify. You can’t require payment, a trade, participation, a sign-up, or completion of a task in exchange for the item.
Request an item
Create a Wanted/ISO listing to let sellers know what you’re looking for.
In the app, tap In Search Of under Classifieds. On KSL.com, choose In Search Of from the Listing Type options.
Wanted/ISO listing requirement: Wanted/ISO listings must be posted as In Search Of, not For Sale. Listings posted under the wrong type may be changed to the correct type or removed.
Create your listing

Open the KSL Classifieds app on your mobile device.

Tap Add Listing in the bottom navigation bar.

In the Add Listing menu, find Classifieds and tap the option that matches your listing:
- For Rent: Tap For Rent.
- Free item: Tap For Sale.
- Wanted/ISO: Tap In Search Of.

Add photos or a video to your listing.
List It in Seconds
After you add photos, you can use List It in Seconds to have AI fill in your listing details based on your photos. This toggle is on by default. You can review and edit AI-generated details before activating your listing. By posting, you take full responsibility for the accuracy of your listing.

Fill out the listing form. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). The category field is searchable, so you can start typing to find the one you need.
For Rent
- Required fields include Title, Description, Category, Subcategory, Condition, Price, Price Option, and Contact Methods.
- Price Option: Choose Per Hour, Per Day, Per Week, or Per Month to match your rental terms.
- Payment Types Accepted: Choose the payment methods you accept, including Cash, Check, Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
- Set Some Rules: Tap Edit to add rules for your rental.
Free
- In the category search, type Free.
- Category: FREE
- Subcategory: FREE (items only, no businesses)
Wanted/ISO
- Required fields include Title, Description, Category, Subcategory, Condition, Price, Price Option, and Contact Methods.
- In the category search, type ISO to see Wanted/ISO subcategories, such as Wanted/ISO - Furniture. Choose the one that matches what you’re looking for.

When your listing is ready, tap Activate Listing.Not ready to post yet? Tap Save Draft to save your progress and come back later.
On the web

On KSL.com, click or tap Classifieds in the Marketplace section of the top navigation. Then click or tap Add Listing.

In the Add Listing panel, click or tap Classifieds.

At the top of the form, choose from the Listing Type options:
- For Rent: Click or tap For Rent. Do this before you fill out the rest of the form, since it changes which fields appear.
- Free item: You don’t need to change anything here. For Sale is already selected.
- Wanted/ISO: Click or tap In Search Of.

In the Media section, upload photos from your file library or drag and drop them onto the form. You can also add one video, up to 60 seconds long. To change the order of photos, click and drag them into place.
Let AI Fill In the Details of Your Listing
After uploading photos, click Use AI to Generate Details. AI can fill in listing information based on your first few photos. You can review and edit its suggestions before activating. This feature is optional, so you can skip it and fill in the details yourself.

Fill out the rest of the form. Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). After Media, the form has a Details section and a Contact section. For Rent listings also have a Rules section.
Category & Subcategory is one searchable field, so you can start typing to find the one you need. Some categories also show a Specifications section with more fields.
For Rent
Choose a Price Option of Per Hour, Per Day, Per Week, or Per Month. Then choose the payment types you accept.
Free
In Category & Subcategory, type Free, then choose FREE > FREE (items only, no businesses). The price fills in as FREE automatically.
Wanted/ISO
In Category & Subcategory, choose the Wanted/ISO subcategory that matches what you’re looking for, such as Wanted/ISO - Pets. Required fields include Title, Description, Category & Subcategory, Condition, Price, Price Option, and Contact Methods.

If you’re creating a For Rent listing, use the Rules section to turn ready-made rules on or off.
- Free delivery within a 5-mile radius
- Must be returned in the same condition as it was rented
- No late returns
- Must be cleaned before returning
- You can also add up to six rules of your own.

In the Contact section, choose your contact methods: Messages, Text, Phone, and Email. Choose as many as you like, then confirm your contact info.Tip: If you’re concerned about privacy or fraud, we recommend using Messages.

When your listing is ready, click or tap Activate.Before activating, review all listing information for accuracy. You are responsible for your listing details regardless of any AI tools provided by KSL.Not ready to post yet? Click or tap Save for later to save your progress.
Scam Alert — Know Your Buyer
Near the bottom of the form, you’ll see a Scam Alert box. It’s worth a quick read.
